Return to the Hope, Joy, Love and Peace of Christmas

As the holiday season approaches, many of us find ourselves swept up in the rush of preparations, celebrations, and the hustle of everyday life. But what if this Christmas could be different? What if this season could be a time of returning to what truly matters—our relationship with God and with one another?

In Come Home for Christmas, I invite readers to step into the true spirit of the season—a homecoming of the heart. This book is designed to help believers reconnect with the joy, peace, love, and hope that Christ brings through His birth, and ultimately, through His presence in our lives today.

The Christmas season is a time when many in our congregations may feel distracted, overwhelmed, or disconnected. Come Home for Christmas offers readers a chance to rediscover the wonder of Christmas, just as they did when they were children. Through humor, Bible teaching, and heartfelt storytelling, I guide readers from the familiar manger scene to the deeper reality of Jesus as the Savior of the world. This is a book for those who are seeking to slow down and truly experience the meaning of the season in a personal and transformative way. As pastors, you can use this book to remind your congregation that the story of Christmas is a story that calls us back to God’s heart.

5 Ways to Come Home for Christmas This Year

  1. Come Home to Healing: This Christmas, encourage your congregation or ministry to share the gift of healing. Christmas has to begin with the admission that we are broken, and we can’t fix what is broken on our own. The reason for the season is found by acknowledging why we need Jesus.
  2. Come Home to Compassion: When we think about the story of Christmas, it is all about compassion. Jesus the King humbled himself in human form and was born in a manger for His calling and purpose to save us. God the Father chose to send Jesus on a silent night. This Christmas season, think about ways your church and congregation can bring others home for Christmas and show compassion as it draws us closer to one another.
  3. Come Home to Forgiveness: This time of year, can bring up different emotions for everyone. For some, it’s full of Joy and for others, it reminds them of loss and can bring grief into their hearts. There is so much freedom in forgiveness as the Lord first forgave us. Christmas can be a time to restore neglected or broken relationships with family and friends. Christmas can be a time you can encourage your congregation to come home to the life God intends you to experience throughout the year.
  4. Come Home to Peace: During the holiday season, amidst last-minute shopping and holiday parties, we spend much time rushed and stressed. What if we take a moment to pause and come home to the gift of peace that the Lord has given to us? This Christmas season, you can remind your congregation that we get to find rest in Him and that this kind of peace can only be found in God.
  5. Come Home to Hope: The hope we celebrate at Christmas is grounded in a Holy confidence. We get to live in expectation because our hope is found in the person of the resurrected Jesus. Hebrews 6:19 reminds us that He is the source of all our hope, and He provides us with hope. This can be a great reminder to those who may feel hopeless this Christmas season. That our Joy and hope are not found in this world but in Jesus.

Christmas can easily become a time of stress and distraction but Come Home for Christmas offers a powerful opportunity to remember what the true meaning of the season is about—Jesus. This book can be a powerful tool for individual reflection during the Christmas season and can remind us of the true gift of Christmas… Jesus. We can learn so much from this time of year, and I would encourage you to reflect on Come Home for Christmas.
