  • About the Contributor(s) Dr. Lloyd John Ogilvie, recently retired Chaplain of the U.S. Senate, is the author of more than 40 books and won a Gold Medallion award for his writing. His nationwide TV and radio ministry, 'Let God Love You', helped promote an evangelical resurgence. He pastored several churches and was named Preacher of the Year by Religion in Media. He continues to pursue his lifelong calling of speaking, teaching, and writing. He and his late wife, Mary Jane, raised three children.

    Leslie C. Allen is Professor of Old Testament at Fuller Theological Seminary. Formerly he was Lecturer in Hebrew, Aramaic and Judaism at London Bible College. He holds the MA degree from Corpus Christi College, Cambridge, in Classics and Oriental Studies. His PhD is from the University College of London, In Hebrew. Among his publications are The Greek Chronicles Parts 1 and 2 (supplements to Vetus Testamentum) and The Books of Joel, Obadiah, Jonah, and Micah for The New International Commentary on the Old Testament, as well as the section on Psalms 101-150 in the Word Biblical Commentary and Psalms in the Word Biblical Themes series.



    Stuart Briscoe was born in England and left a career in banking to enter ministry full time. He served as senior pastor of Elmbrook Church in Brookfield, Wisconsin, for thirty years. Stuart has written more than 50 books, preached in more than 100 countries and now travels the majority of the year as a minister-at-large for Elmbrook. Stuart and his wife, Jill, share their powerful Bible teaching through Telling the Truth, their international broadcast ministry (www.tellingthetruth.org).

    Kenneth L. Chafin died in 2001 after a distinguished career committed to evangelism and ministry. He taught at two Southern Baptist seminaries, including serving as the first Billy Graham Professor of Evangelism at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky. He also had lengthy pastorates at South Main Baptist Church in Houston, Texas, and Walnut Street Baptist Church in Louisville. He and his wife, Barbara, were married 46 years and had three children.

    Dr. Gary W. Demarest is a retired Presbyterian minister and former associate director for Presbyterian evangelism in the General Assembly offices. He continues to preach and teach in various settings, and co-chairs the Theological Task Force on the Peace, Unity, and Purity of the Church for the Presbyterian Church (USA). He and his wife, Marily, enjoy spending much of their time with their eight grandchildren.

    Dr. Russell H. Dilday recently served as Interim President of Howard Payne University in Texas. He pastored four chruches before becoming president of Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and was Acting Dean and Distinguished Professor of Hermeneutics and Homiletics at George Truett Seminary of Baylor University. Dr. Dilday was elected to numerous denominational serivce positions including president of the Baptist General Convention of Texas. He and his wife, Betty, have three children.

    Dr. Maxie D. Dunnam is President of Asbury Theological Seminary in Wilmore, Kentucky. Widely known as an evangelist, leader, and a pioneer in small group ministries, he organized and served three United Methodist churches before joining the Upper Room Fellowship. He created the Upper Room Crusillo that later became The Walk to Emmaus. He has served other churches and authored over 40 books as well as video/study correspondence courses. He and his wife Jerry Lynn have three children.

    Sinclair B. Ferguson (PhD, University of Aberdeen) is a professor of systematic theology at Westminster Theological Seminary.
