Strange Fire

Discover the dangers and deceptions of the modern Charismatic movement and learn how to be biblically faithful to the Holy Spirit's true work.

In Strange Fire, bestselling author and pastor John MacArthur chronicles the unsavory history behind the modern Pentecostal and Charismatic movements so you can gain a biblical perspective on the Spirit and His gifts for today.

The Charismatic movement has always been a breeding-ground for scandal, greed, bad doctrine, and all kinds of spiritual chicanery. From the Word of Faith to the New Apostolic Reformation, the Charismatic movement is being consumed by the empty promises of the prosperity gospel. Too many charismatic celebrities promote a “Christianity” without Christ, and a Holy Spirit without holiness.

Strange Fire helps you see how the Charismatic movement has betrayed the God they claim to represent. Laced with historical research, biblical support, and quotes from scholars across the spectrum, this book gives you a rigorous evaluation of the fastest-growing segment of the American Christian church. MacArthur lays out a chilling case against the modern Charismatic movement that includes:

• Rejecting its false prophets
• Speaking out against their errors
• Showing true reverence to the Holy Spirit
• Clinging to the Bible as the inerrant, authoritative Word of God and the one true standard by which all truth claims must be tested.

As you read this book, you will gain a biblical perspective on the Spirit and His gifts, so you will not be duped by the many spiritual counterfeits, false doctrines, and phony miracles that vie for our attention today.
